Mature Love
This is a special series genre capturing the bond between long-married couples.
This is space created for couples to have a shoot together and then reflect on what has been important in their relationship, and what they have learned. It's a time to reflect on their story and the process of choosing their own "Mature Love", celebrating it, and then sharing it with others to glean from.

We celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary this month. We get mixed reactions when others find out how long we have been married, ranging from disbelief to congratulations. We certainly have had our share of difficulties and ups and downs, as all relationships do, and we have gone to bed angry.

If I were to try and pin down a “secret” to our longevity the first thing that comes to mind is remembering the initial attraction. Why were you first attracted to that person that made you want to commit to a lifetime together? When we were beginning to talk about marriage and discussing our fears and concerns, Doug noted them and stated, “We will just have to stay committed to our commitment”. I think that has been the key for us to maintain our relationship.
Other tips I would share would be the importance of establishing good two-way communication, practicing the art of listening as well as hearing, and don’t let pride get in the way, admit when wrong, and forgive quickly.
